Appeals Court Blocks Vaccine Mandate for Federal Workers
On February 8, 2022, the 5th U.S. Circuit of Appeals in New Orleans, LA ruled to maintain a block of the mandate that federal employees must be vaccinated against COVID-19. The mandate was announced in September 2021 by the Biden administration and required that federal employees undergo vaccination unless they obtained a medical or religious exemption. It did not contain an option for employees to instead be regularly tested.
The block on the mandate was initially issued by a Texas federal judge on January 21, 2022. The Biden Administration has asked the court of an injunction to allow the mandate to move forward pending an appeal.
